FAQs: Finding the Right Care on Sana Network
How do I search for a provider in the Sana Network? Our general directory allows you to search across all healthcare and wellness disciplines. You can search by city, zip code, or a specific provider’s name. To narrow your results, use the “Provider Type” filter to choose from categories like Counseling, Psychiatry, Naturopathic Medicine, Rehabilitative Therapy (PT/OT/Speech), Doulas, Life Coaching, Body Healing, or Treatment Centers. Additional filters allow you to search by insurance, cost, and clinical specialties.
What types of professionals are listed in this directory? Sana Network is a multidisciplinary platform designed to support whole-person health. Our providers include:
Mental Health & Medical: Psychologists, Counselors, Psychiatrists, and Nurse Practitioners.
Integrative & Holistic: Naturopathic Physicians (NMD), Nutritionists, Acupuncturists, and Body Healers.
Rehabilitative & Birth Support: PTs, OTs, Speech Therapists, Midwives, and Doulas.
Performance & Wellness: Life Coaches, Yoga Teachers, and Meditation Instructors.
Facilities: Hospitals, Residential Centers, and Integrated Clinics.
How do I know if a provider is licensed? Professional integrity is our priority. Most providers in our directory are state-licensed healthcare professionals (such as MDs, PhDs, LPCs, or DPTs). For wellness disciplines that do not have state licensing (like coaching or energy healing), we look for national certifications.
Who can prescribe medication in the Sana Network? Medication can be prescribed by medical professionals specifically trained and licensed to do so. This includes Psychiatrists (MD/DO), Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP), Physician Assistants (PA), and in many states (like Arizona), Naturopathic Medical Doctors (NMD). Licensed therapists, psychologists, coaches, and doulas do not prescribe medication.
What is the difference between clinical therapy and coaching?
Clinical Therapy: Conducted by licensed professionals to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, process trauma, and manage clinical symptoms.
Life Coaching: Focuses on goal-setting, professional development, and future-oriented action plans. It is not a substitute for mental health treatment. Many users find success by working with both a therapist for clinical needs and a coach for specific life or career goals.
Does Sana Network include providers-in-training or students? Yes. We believe in supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals. You will find associates, residents, and interns across many disciplines. These providers have completed their advanced degrees and are currently gaining clinical hours under the strict supervision of an independently licensed professional. These “supervised” providers often offer services at a reduced or sliding-scale rate, making high-quality care more accessible.
How much does care cost and is insurance accepted? Cost varies by provider type and experience. Many of our clinical providers and treatment centers are “In-Network” with major insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. Holistic and coaching services are often private-pay, though many can be covered using HSA/FSA funds. We recommend using our insurance filters and verifying coverage directly with the provider’s office.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment? For most providers in the Sana Network, you can book an appointment directly without a referral. However, some insurance plans (specifically HMOs) and certain high-level treatment facilities may require a referral from your Primary Care Provider (PCP) for the costs to be covered.
Is my information confidential? Yes. All licensed healthcare providers and facilities in the Sana Network are “Covered Entities” under HIPAA regulations, which protect your sensitive health information by law. While coaching and wellness practitioners also prioritize privacy, their legal “privilege” may differ from medical providers. We recommend reviewing the specific privacy policy of any provider you choose to work with.
